JOIN PICKLEBALL ENTHUSIASTS
Invented in 1965.
Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum to entertain their families on Bainbridge Island Washington. They combined elements from sports like badminton, ping-pong, and tennis, using a badminton court, a lowered net, a plastic ball, and homemade paddles. The game was named “pickleball” by Joel Pritchard’s wife, Joan, who said the name reminded her of the “pickle boat” in crew races.
